Indulge in the Taste of Italy with Authentic Tiramisu
Tiramisu has always held a special place in my heart and I’m thrilled to share this authentic recipe that I discovered during my travels across Italy. Each bite captures the rich, creamy layers of mascarpone, the bold kick of espresso, and the delicate notes of Amaretto, transporting you straight to a cozy Italian café. This recipe is not just a dessert; it’s a love letter to the beautiful moments I’ve experienced in Italy. Join me in recreating this classic and savour the essence of Italy in every bite!
Ingredients for a 4 person serving
- 250g marscapone cheese
- 12 Savoiardi biscuits
- Half a cup of strong italian coffee. I brew mine in my Mokka
- 2T grated dark chocolate. I use Callebaut 811
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 egg whites
- 3T caster sugar
- 2T Amaretto or Kahlua (optional)
- 1T high quality cocoa powder. I use the Cacao Barry brand
How to…
Whisk the egg whites using an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Add 1.5T of caster sugar and keep whisking until the egg whites are glossy and have firm peaks. Put aside.
Using the same electric mixer whisk the egg yolks and remaining sugar (1.5T) until the egg yolks are pale and thick. Add your marscapone and whisk until the mixture is incorporated really well.
Gently fold in the egg whites into the egg yolk mixture and set aside.
Combine your coffee and liqueur in a shallow dish. Dip your biscuits into the coffee one at time for no more than a couple of seconds and line them in a glass dish. My dish is approx 20cm x 15cm. Add half your marscapone mixture and top with grated chocolate. Follow the same process for another layer and dust with cocoa.
Place in the fridge for at least 8 hours (or overnight is best) to let the flavours develop. Enjoy!
